Turning the Captivity

Deuteronomy 30:3 ‘ Then the LORD thy GOD will turn thy captivity and have compassion on thee, and will return and gather thee from all nations whither the Lord thy God hath scattered thee.’
When we 30:2 ‘return unto the Lord thy God and obey his voice’ His eternal promise is to turn our captivity. Job 42:10 also instructs us as to how He will ‘turn our captivity.’ When we pray for our enemies. This is a formula for the breaking of captivity of whatever bondage we may find ourselves in. Part of the stipulation is, and this is why people remain in captivity, because they cannot ‘obey his voice with all thine heart and all thine soul,’ and they cannot draw close to Him with prayer, praying for those who have hurt them.
You see wounds cause people to fall away, to seek to relieve the pain caused by these wounds generally involves a compromise; and because when we rely on man for relief we get worldly results and are thereby separated from God. Also, we are brought into captivity, for the world’s remedy generally makes us a dependent on our doctor or medication or whatever venue chosen to cope with the pain, to care for the wound. Emotional wounds are oft times more painful than those of the physical nature, insomuch as the mind is greater than the body, and the more severe the wound the greater the vulnerability we have to become captives of this world’s wisdom.

But God said If we just follow Him with our whole heart he will turn our captivity. If we pray for those who hurt us, he will turn our captivity. Whatever our captivity either apostasy or pain or both the formula is found here, and the Word tells us that God Himself will turn our captivity.
